New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on October 26, 2021) follows:

Besides Pokemon Go, Ingress Prime is another popular augmented reality video game developed by Niantic. It was initially released back in December 2013 and is available on Android and iOS running devices.

The game allows users to play in real-world locations using GPS similar to Pokemon Go. The game was working fine until recently when some players started encountering an issue while logging in.

According to reports, an issue with Facebook login has been spoiling the user experience for many Ingress Prime gamers lately and is preventing them from entering the game.

In detail, when a player tries to log in via Facebook they get an error message which says ‘App not set up: This app is still in development mode, and you don’t have access to it. Switch to a registered test user or ask an app admin for permissions.’

Here are some reports for reference:

Today I’m unable to login using Facebook account, obtaining an error message that “Ingress requires a secure login”. When I signed out from my Facebook application and tried to login Ingress Prime again, I’ve got the following error on FB side, definitely related to Ingress Prime setup:

App not setup: This **** is still in development mode, and you don’t have access to it. Switch to a registered test user or ask an app admin for permissions. (Source)

So my mum who’s level 7 uses Facebook to log in to her ingress for some odd reason it won’t let her log in to her account using Facebook but it let’s her log in using google but obviously she dosnt use Google she can’t use her account at the minute any fix?? (Source)

Every time players log in using their Facebook account they get an error message as shown in the screengrab below.

After getting frustrated by this annoying bug, the affected players then took to Twitter, Reddit, and the Ingress community forum seeking a solution.

Fortunately, Niantic Support has acknowledged this issue and said that they are currently investigating it. However, no ETA has been provided as to when this issue will be actually resolved.

The Facebook login issue does not seem to be a big concern and since it has been acknowledged, we hope that it gets sorted out as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, there is no temporary workaround available at the moment that the affected gamers can try besides using a Google account to log in.

That said, we will keep you updated on the further development of the Ingress Prime Facebook login issue as and when anything new comes to our notice.

Update 1 (October 28)

Niantic’s administrator on the community forums has confirmed that Facebook has once again activated Ingress. Thus, you should now be able to log in via your Facebook account.

Facebook has reactivated Ingress this morning so you should now be able to use Sign in with Facebook to sign into Ingress. (Source)
