Hulu Under the Banner of Heaven subtitles missing or unavailable, issue under investigation but no ETA for fix

Owned by The Walt Disney Company and Comcast, Hulu is a subscription-based streaming service that was launched in 2007. It features movies and TV series from various networks such as FX, NBC, and ABC along with some Hulu originals.

As of February 2022, Hulu has more than 45.3 million paid subscribers worldwide, thanks to the different plans that cater to everyone’s budget and needs.

But as is the case with streaming services, subscribers do come across bugs like the app rewinding programs when users played them back after pausing and a sound issue affecting NBC’s The Voice show.

Adding to the list of problems, Hulu users are now reporting that the subtitles for Under the Banner of Heaven are either missing or unavailable (1,2,3,4,5). It looks like closed captions for other titles are working just fine.

Some initially thought it was a problem on their end and tried restarting the app and clearing app data and cache but it did not help. Here are some reports from Hulu subscribers complaining about missing Under the Banner of Heaven subtitles.

I’ve seen multiple people rant and complain things that are wrong with the Under the Banner of Heaven episodes so far. None have yet touched on the most egregious fault. No subtitles. Fix this please, @hulu.

@hulu I’m deaf I’m watching the banner of heaven and there are no subtitles. I went into settings and it didn’t fix it. Very hard to watch if you’re deaf or hard of hearing without captions.

Hulu subscribers seem to be infuriated and are wondering if and when the service will be uploading the missing subtitles for Under the Banner of Heaven.

Fortunately, Hulu Support has shed some light on the matter and said they are aware of the issue and that it is currently under investigation. However, they did not share any ETA on when the problem will be resolved.
