During the recent debacle between the US Government and the Chinese telecom giant Huawei, the Android community were fairly uncertain about the OEM’s future in this domain. Well, the crisis is somewhat over, and it is good to see that Huawei is working relentlessly to bring Android 10 to their portfolio of devices.

Huawei P30: One of the first phones to get EMUI 10 via beta

The custom skin used in Huawei devices is known as EMUI, and its version number is going to be bumped from 9.x to 10 with the underlying platform upgradation. On the other hand, Honor branded phones used a similar distribution called Magic UI which should get the v3.0 tag in the near future.

Parity wise Magic UI 2.1 is nothing but a rebranded variant of EMUI 9.1. A bunch of phones from Huawei/Honor got the stable Pie update in last few months while the company has chosen the flagships among them as the first set of recipients to try out the next iteration of Android.

The above list came from the official EMUI 10 roadmap thread, which was revised yesterday after the first public beta went live for Huawei P30/P30 Pro. Huawei demands that the users should install the August security patch on their phones as the EMUI 10 build needs it as a mandatory prerequisite.

Time for the good news: the Chinese OEM also published a teaser via their official Weibo handle regarding the expansion of the beta program. We can now confirm that the public beta is soon going to support the following phones:

Looks pretty much same? Well, the teaser ensures that the 5G variant of Huawei Mate 20 X is certainly not part of the initial roster. Moreover, it does mention ‘Honor 20 family’ – will the entry level models like Honor 20i get the taste of Android 10 in this month?

We might not need to wait for a long time to get the answers. Stay tuned!
