While Hive Social devs are already working to fix various other issues with their application, new problems continue to pop up.

Recently, a section of users reported that dark mode on Android is broken, and the link to the Spotify option in Profile Music is grayed out. And now, a new bug isn’t letting users sign up.

As per the reports, several Hive Social users have taken to Twitter to report that they aren’t able to sign into the application as it’s not letting them choose a username.

Hive Social ‘user name already taken’ issue

Users say that every time they try to pick a username, it says ‘user name already taken’. Here are some reports for reference:

Can’t make an account. Keeps telling me “this username had already been taken”. There is no way usernames I wrote so specifically in 25+ different variations have been taken already -_- (Source)

@TheHIVE_Social my app wouldn’t load anything. It signed me out and now it won’t let me sign back in and is making me create a new account yet says my username is taken…. It’s the one I already have. Please help (Source)

While this message is normal if the username already exists. However, users say that they get this message for every other username they try, which is bizarre.

Those affected have confirmed that they have tested many usernames and even tried different variations to make it unique but to no avail. So, this is indeed a glitch that needs to be addressed.

Responding to one of those affected, Hive Social said that their server is currently shut down as they work on fixing some performance issues with the platform.

Furthermore, users will be able to sign up without any issues once the server is back online. However, they didn’t provide any ETA.

Regrettably, we haven’t come across any workaround that might fix this problem temporarily. That means, you’ll have to wait up until the server is back online.

That said, we’ll follow up on the latest developments and inform you as and when we come across anything noteworthy.
