Developed by Raluca Pop, Hive Social is one of the most popular microblogging services and mobile apps. The app quickly climbed to the top of the social media apps’ list on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Some of the platform’s features have similarities with the ones on Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr, and hence termed by many as a ‘hybrid’ of the three.

Even though Hive Social has become the talk of the town recently, it has received its fair share of criticism, especially due to technical problems with the platform.

Multiple Hive Social users (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) are currently unable to complete the login process as the app is not working for them.

Since this seems to be affecting both Android and iOS users, it can be more of a server-side issue rather than an application one.

Those affected are just getting a blank gray screen instead of the login panel, making it impossible for users to access the platform. The same issue was reported before the recent update as well.

My phone (OnePlus 7T) cannot load the Hive app. It installs just fine but I hang on a grey screen and no login screen ever loads. Any advice?

Yo @TheHIVE_Social I have updated and reinstalled multiple times and all I get is a grey screen after accepting notifications. Can I get some help? I want to try the app. IPhone 12, latest version.

Hive Social’s official handle on Twitter stated that their servers were back online and fully functional as of December 16, 2022.

It was also mentioned that a new update had been released across platforms, claiming to have made a few security fixes and tweaks to its app.

But it appears that the app stopped working for some after the recent update. General troubleshooting steps such as updating the app or re-installing it do not seem to help either.

It should be noted that the same issue had popped up in the past as well, as pointed out earlier this month by a Twitter user.

Users are unhappy since they can’t make use of the platform to socialize with their peers. Even though they’ve taken to social media to express their views, the company is yet to fix this issue.

That said, we will keep an eye on the problem where the Hive Social app is ‘not working’ or stuck at ‘gray screen of death’ and update this story as we come across any new information.

02:40 pm (IST): Although Hive Social support promised to release a fix for this issue a few weeks ago, users are still reporting the same problem even in the latest version of the app.
