Google Photos is the most popular platform for backing up photos. It allows you to access photos on your phone and through the web.

You may keep your priceless memories there. But what if you mistakenly delete some files and now want to recover them?

If you’ve ever unintentionally deleted images from Google Photos, there is a way to restore them.

Google Photos allows you to effortlessly restore deleted media and in this article, we will guide you on how you can restore trashed photos in Google Photos.

Why do you need to recover photos?

Digital pictures are practically a part of everyone’s life now. All of our memories are quite literally on our phones.

Pictures of important official and financial documents may also be stored on our mobile phones.

Unfortunately, they might be lost for a number of reasons, resulting in significant damages.

However, Google Photos retains your deleted photos in the ‘trash’ folder for 60 days before permanently removing them from your account. Granted, you can easily restore trashed photos within this timeframe.

How to restore trashed photos in Google Photos

  • Open Google Photos on your phone
  • At the bottom of the screen, click on the ‘library’ tab
  • Now tap on ‘Trash’
  • You can now see all the media files you may have intentionally or mistakenly deleted
  • Select the images or video you want to recover
  • Click on the ‘restore’ option and you are done
