Content streaming services have seen an increase in their userbase over the whole COVID-19 pandemic containment period and for many, this trend is set to continue as many workplaces resort to a work-from-home formula.

Could be due to the sudden increase in users but in the past few months, we have seen many reports of various issues to do with these streaming services, either due to outages or incompatibility issues.

HBO-Max

One such service is HBO Max. We have been keeping and maintaining a dedicated HBO Max bug tracker and you can check it out here for more on these issues and their current state.

Recently, we highlighted an issue with HBO Max on various consoles that left users unable to access the service and you can learn more on that here.

Well, today, HBO Max is once again, the talk of the interwebs. This, as the service sent out a spam mail to many of its users, an email that is supposedly only used as an integration test template.

The email with the subject Integration Test Email #1 has a single line of test that reads: This template is used by integration tests only.

The email was supposedly sent out to HBO Max subscribers although there have been reports from users in regions where HBO Max isn’t even supported.

Interestingly, it looks like users have taken this test in stride as many have exhibited a lot of humor, many mocking HBO Max for this ‘successful integration test.’

Think we will get all the Integration Test Email’s at once or will HBO Max do that weekly roll out?

Some users have been a little less than nice to the team over at HBO Max.

Thank you @hbomax’s engineers for reminding all of us to never test in prod!

Thankfully, there doesn’t seem to be any effect whatsoever on the HBO Max service and users can safely ignore this ‘Integration test notification’.

At the time of writing, HBO Max was yet to speak of this issue. But do they really need to? That said, we shall continue to keep an eye out for more from HBO Max and update as and when we get more reports so stay tuned.

NOTE: We have these and many more HBO Max stories here so you might want to take a look for more.
