Developed by ArenaNet, Guild Wars 2 is a popular MMORPG title set in the fictional universe of Tyria. As of August last year, the game had more than 16 million accounts.

Having said that, the developers frequently update the title and bring new content with ArenaNet recently releasing the End of Dragons expansion pack.

But as is the case with every online multiplayer, issues such as the bugged Path of Fire quest have negatively affected the gameplay experience for many.

And now, Guild Wars 2 players are reporting (1,2,3,4,5) a bug where the Salvage button shows up even on non-Salvageable items. Some say they tried salvaging the non-salvageable items but nothing happens when they do so.

The bug seems to be causing a lot of confusion amongst players since they have no way of knowing if an item can be salvaged for resources or not. It looks like the problem surfaced after the End of Dragons update.

Others say normal salvage kits are not working either and that they are running out of inventory space because of the glitch. Here are some reports from Guild Wars 2 players complaining about the bugged Salvage button.

Collection related items that say they are salvageable for unbound magic, etc. There are tons of them as part of various legendary trinkets, such as aurora that used to be salvageable before EOD and the tooltips still say they are salvageable, but when you click them with s salvage kit, nothing happens. On the menu they are highlighted as if they are salvageable as well, but again, nothing happens when salvage kit is applied.

I’ve been doing the collections for Aurora and all the items you get say ‘can be salvaged for unbound magic’ but when you go to salvage them they show as eligible then when you confirm this nothing happens. I’ve tried with multiple salvage kits in-case it didn’t like certain ones. This is also the same for the two salvageable pre-items to wayfarers henge (Blooming/Living Druid Stone). Not sure if this is a new bug or an old one as I just started the collection a few days ago.

Thankfully, an ArenaNet staff member shed some light on the matter and said that it is a visual bug and that they are working on a fix.

This is an issue with the preview. The food items will not actually be salvaged. That said we are working on a fix for it!

However, they did not share any ETA on when the problem will be resolved. Rest assured, we will be keeping an eye out for more information, so stay tuned for updates.
