Google Wallet is an application that is capable of replacing your physical wallet unless you want to carry cash. It not only simplifies contactless payments but also acts as a digital hub for your essential items, such as boarding passes, event tickets, movie entries, and loyalty cards.

Google Wallet support comes to users in Peru and the Dominican Republic

Google Wallet is currently supported in more than 70 countries, including Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Mexico. And now, Google has added two more Latin American countries to the list – Peru and the Dominican Republic.

With this expansion, users in Peru and the Dominican Republic can embrace contactless payments and conveniently store their tickets for various events, movies, and more using Google Wallet on their Pixel phone or any other supported Android device. Unlike traditional wallets, Google Wallet also reminds you about your upcoming event or movie if you’ve saved your tickets within the application.

Moreover, you can make contactless payments directly from the Google Wallet. This application allows users to make payments using the debit or credit cards of the financial institutions that are added to the wallet and enabled for payments. And it’s not just limited to Android, you can also make payments through Google Wallet using supported Wear OS devices.

How to make payments using Google Wallet

Google Wallet is like a supercharged version of Google Pay. With Google Wallet, you can effortlessly handle contactless payments at places that accept this type of transaction. Users can just tap to pay where Google Pay is accepted. Moreover, you can also use credit or debit cards for making payments in places with NFC enabled.

Google Wallet makes it very easy to make payments using cards. You don’t have to carry your physical debit and credit cards everywhere. You just need to save them in the application, and you are good to go. If you’ve already saved your debit or credit cards within your Google account, there’s no need to manually add them. They’ll automatically appear as an option. However, if not, then just follow the steps mentioned below to add the cards manually.

  • Open the app
  • Select the ‘Add to Wallet’ option
  • And choose the ‘Add payment cards’ option

Additionally, you can also add your cards by simply scanning them through the device’s camera. Once your debit or credit cards are added to Google Wallet, you’re all set. Just open the app, choose the card for the transaction, and hover your phone over the NFC terminal to make payments.

Is Google Wallet secure?

In the digital age, security is a top concern for users. When it comes to Google Wallet, you might be wondering if it’s completely safe to use and if your payment information is well protected. Let’s take a closer look at the security features in Google Wallet.

Google Wallet uses a clever security measure. Instead of sharing your actual card numbers, it uses something called an ‘alternate card number’ or token. This token is unique to your device and is linked to a dynamic security code that changes with each transaction. So, even if someone intercepts the transaction data, they won’t have your actual card numbers.

Additionally, the application on your phone is secured by a screen lock. This adds an extra layer of security. And if worse comes to worst and you lose your device, then you can use the ‘Find My Device’ feature to remotely lock your device, change its password, or even erase all the information on it.

In a nutshell, Google takes security seriously and offers multiple layers of protection to secure your payment information. Therefore, individuals who are looking forward to using the Google Wallet in Peru and the Dominican Republic can do so without worrying about data privacy.
