Google Search is undoubtedly one of the most popular search engines that has transformed the way we access information on the internet.

Google’s powerful search algorithms make it easier for people to find the information they need. These help analyze billions of web pages and prioritize the most relevant results.

The company has recently introduced a change to the platform that has not been well received by some.

Google Search tiled or grid view format for search results

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7), multiple users are dissatisfied with the new ’tiled or grid view format’ introduced on Google Search.

The recent format displays two-column tiles, cutting off site titles and preview text, resulting in low search result relevancy and reduced functionality. Apparently, this change has been only introduced on the mobile app.

However, users find it challenging to sort out relevant information with the current layout. Some even believe that this view will work better on bigger screens.

Sadly, Google has not provided an option to disable the new layout or switch back to the old one.

A user complains that the search tiles now are that small that it has become difficult to find out the desired information.

And understandably, those affected have taken to Google Community forums to request an option to disable the grid view format in search results.

Is there a way to disable or turn off the new tile display for google mobile searches?

However, it looks like this change has been only introduced as an experimental feature, as only some users have experienced it.

Potential workaround

Fortunately, we did come across a potential workaround that might help solve your problem. It is recommended that you open Google Search in Incognito mode.

Alternatively, you can use another search engine until the issue is permanently resolved.
