Google has broadened its portfolio throughout the years and currently provides a diverse range of products. However, Google Search is the company’s core and primary service.

It is still the most used internet search engine with more than 3.5 billion searches per day, it has a 92% share of the global search engine market.

Google Search result say ‘These search terms appear in the result’

Lately, many users have been expressing their confusion regarding the Google Search results displaying a generic text rather than a snippet (1,2,3).

A meta-description provides users with a brief, relevant summary of what a particular page is about. Based on it, a user determines whether or not to visit the website.

However, recently when users search anything on Google, they keep seeing ‘These search terms appear in the result’ instead of a snippet or meta description.

This has made it difficult for them to understand what to expect from a web search result as there can be many different articles or blogs with the same title.

“These search terms appear in the result” showing instead of Snippets. Every search I do has no snippet, just a blurb about which search terms appear in the link. Is there a way to get the descriptions back or am I doomed to guess the relevance of each page by the title?

Usually if I search something on Google, the results would show a brief summary of the text of the website or a description. Now EVERY result has a generic description such as “These search terms appear in the result: (terms) This result has images related to your search.

Potential workaround

Meanwhile, there is a potential workaround that involves searching on Google by either logging out of your account or using the web browser in incognito mode:

If I am not logged in to my Google account when I run the search, it shows me real descriptions of the websites.
