Original story (published on December 25, 2021) follows:

The Google App is one of the most popular Android apps on the Play Store. It allows users to personalize their feed and notifications as well as search and browse the internet.

Initially released in 2010, Google has added several new features to the app and even allows users to make queries offline which will be available when your device is connected to the internet.

Having said that, like all other Android apps, the Google app is susceptible to bugs and issues such as the one where users are unable to turn off trending searches on the home page.

Now, Google app users are reporting that they are experiencing a delay with a new screen popping up after typing the first letter whenever they try to search.

Reports suggest that the issue persists even after Google released a fix for the Google app crashing issue back in June this year.

Mine does it but my daughter and wife also have S21 phones and theirs does not do it. Bought all 3 at same time direct from Samsung about a year ago. Checked and we all 3 have same updated Android version (12) with same security patch. Android software screens pretty well identical. I did however try to compare my Google and discovered there is a difference vs the other 2 phones.

Still happens. New tablet, old phone, pc, doesn’t matter, everything is cleared and updated on all devices, still does it.. also, only my tablet is samsung.

People say that the Google app delay issue is really frustrating with some saying that the issue only happens in dark mode while others say it can be reproduced by turning on the Samsung Power Saving mode.

It is interesting to know that the Google search delay glitch was escalated to Google Search Team by a Diamond Product Expert in July this year.

I’ve referred this issue to the Google Search team for investigation. Also, please be sure to send feedback direct to Google using the in-app “Send feedback” feature.
Note: This answer has been marked “Recommended” for visibility. The issue is still under investigation.

Then in October, the Diamond Product Expert asked those affected to send a video of the Google Search delay glitch.

Please advise whether or not you’re still experiencing this behaviour. If you are, please attach a screen video showing the issue.

A few days later, they shed some light on the matter and said that they have passed the video of the glitch to the concerned team.

It looks like Google is still investigating the issue. Users are wondering why Google is taking months to fix the Search delay glitch. We hope the developers find out the root cause of the bug as soon as possible.

Update 1 (March 26)

06:42 pm (IST): It turns out that this issue still persists as fresh user reports continue to pour in.
