The July 2023 Google Play System update has been nothing short of a nightmare for some Pixel 7 users as reports have flooded online forums indicating ‘Failed to Update’ error messages.

Google Play System updates are essential for maintaining the reliability and security of Android devices. They are sent directly through the Google Play Store, making them available to all compatible devices.

However, the repeated failed installation of the update has left some Pixel 7 users unable to receive the essential security patches and system-level improvements (1,2,3,4,5,6).

Pixel 7 owner here. Did anybody else got a 31mb play system update and Upon downloading it It instantly shows you the message ” failed to update”?

People have been receiving notifications about the update, but when they attempt to download it, they see the ‘Failed to update’ message. Sadly, clearing storage and restarting the device don’t seem to fix the issue.

The absence of the latest patch may become a cause of worry for Pixel 7 users. It could potentially result in decreased device performance, battery life issues, and other software-related problems.

Potential workaround

Fortunately, we have come across a workaround that can help fix the Pixel 7 Google Play System ‘Failed to update’ error messages. It seems that it involves updating your device to Android 14 beta.
