Original story (published on August 31, 2022) follows:

The consistency with which numerous issues have popped up since the Android 13 update is pretty abysmal and frustrating.

There are certain issues that have been prevalent since the beta versions of Android 13. Some were acknowledged and fixed, while others still continue to trouble many.

For instance, the Google Pixel freezing and fingerprint scanner issues after the Android 13 update have been affecting users since the beta days.

And now, wireless charging seems to be dysfunctional after the Android 13 update.

Google Pixel wireless charging not working after Android 13 update

Many Google Pixel users, primarily Pixel 4, are reporting an issue that they aren’t able to wirelessly charge their devices after the Android 13 update.

I installed Android 13 on my Pixel 4XL last night, now it won’t charge on the stand for more than a few minutes until it stops and I get a ‘Not charging’ message. It worked fine yesterday on Android 12, I suppose it will get addressed in a future patch, it’s just frustrating to upgrade to lose functionality!

But it appears that the problem is not limited to Pixel 4 series as some Pixel 6 series owners are also reporting a similar issue.

Those affected are also claiming that the problem persists no matter what charger they are using. For some, wireless charging just doesn’t work unless they restart their devices.

Interestingly, Google Pixel 6 phones experienced similar wireless charging issues on Android 12 as well, so it’s likely the bug slipped through to the latest update.

While it might have taken quite some time for the wireless charging issue to get Google’s attention, the development team has recently acknowledged and marked it as ‘In-progress’ on the official issue tracker.

We also came across some workarounds that can help fix the issue temporarily, as suggested below.

And here’s another that seems to have helped one of those affected:

Lastly, users can also try restarting their phone before wirelessly charging for a potential fix.

We hope Google comes up with a definite fix soon so that Pixel devices on Android 13 can be wirelessly charged without any of these issues.
