New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on October 18, 2022) follows:

The Google Pixel Watch has become the new favorite gadget for fitness freaks. It can monitor your heart rate throughout the day and offer specific statistics such as Active Zone Minutes during exercises.

Google Pixel Watch users can track different activities such as steps, calories, sleep, and so on using the Fitbit app.

Google Pixel Watch ‘sleep tracking’ not working

According to reports, some Google Pixel Watch users are having an issue where the ‘sleep tracking’ is not working for them (1,2,3).

If you wear the Google Pixel Watch to bed on your wrist, it will detect when you go to sleep. The device measures sleep when your body is entirely at rest and you haven’t moved for about an hour.

You will need at least a 30% charge on your Google Pixel Watch in order to track your sleep.

The affected users claim that they have ensured that all of the conditions for sleep tracking are fulfilled. However, even in bedtime mode, their sleep is not being recorded.

I have worn my pixel watch to bed multiple times and every time it has not tracked my sleep.
I make sure the watch has at least 50% battery and I put it into bedtime mode. I also have a premium Fitbit account and I keep the app logged in and open in background in my phone.

Google Pixel Watch ‘sleep tracking’ inaccurate

Another issue that has troubled many Google Pixel Watch owners is the sleep score’s inaccuracy (1,2). This is a huge inconvenience as it prevents users from accurately tracking their sleep.

Several users say that they slept for 8 hours although the watch only displays 3 hours. The difference in sleep scores is rather considerable.

I’ve noticed on my watch my fitbit is beyond wrong. My sleep is way off. Said I slept 2 hours last night. And my step counter is definitely off over 10k steps.. anyone else notice anything like this with your watch.

Potential workaround

Until new related developments emerge, there are some potential workarounds that could help you. First, a Google Gold Product Expert has suggested manually syncing the Fitbit app every morning:

Secondly, press the ‘Sync’ in the bedtime mode on the watch:

I had this problem and to fix it, I pressed “Sync” in the bedtime mode on the watch.

Thirdly, put the watch to charge to upload data:

Thank you, it seems that you have to have the watch on charge for the sleep data to upload, oddly!

Lastly, the syncing process might take some time so can wait for about an hour for it to update.

That being said, stay tuned to PiunikaWeb to know if and when there are any further developments regarding the issue.
