Google reportedly set to release Pixel Watch 3 in two sizes

Unlike high-end smartwatches from other brands, the Pixel Watch devices launched so far are only available in one size, which has received complaints from users who consider it to be too small. However, this could change with the Pixel Watch 3, as a report suggests two variants with different sizes for the next generation.

According to a recent report (from 9to5Google), the Pixel Watch 3 is being developed with at least two sizes in mind. At the moment, it is not known which two possible sizes the wearable will be offered in or the technical differences between them. It would be quite useful if the base variant arrived in a slightly larger size, since the current 41 mm diameter could be too small for some.

Also, we will have to wait to find out if the possible Pixel Watch 3’s bigger sizes mean that the current bands will no longer be compatible. There is still a long way to go until the launch, but the first leaks that are emerging around them predict an exciting future for fans of these watches.

Both the original Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 have a 41mm diameter. In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 is available in up to 47mm (‘Classic’ variant), and the Apple Watch Ultra 2 goes even further at 49mm. Therefore, it is evident that the size of Google smartwatches is far behind.

A larger size for a smartwatch is not just a matter of aesthetics or comfort; it also provides greater functionality by having more usable space on the screen, both for navigating through apps and for getting information. Additionally, the more physical space available means manufacturers can integrate a larger battery and even more sensors. Currently, the different variants of each generation of Pixel Watch only differ with the inclusion of mobile network support via eSIM, with the base version only supporting Wi-Fi.
