Google’s efforts to increase the market share of its Pixel phones around the world appear to be paying off. The latest top 10 smartphone brands ranking in Taiwan for October was recently published, showing that sales of Google Pixel devices continue to rise.
Taiwan’s October phone market share ranking puts Google Pixel in 4th place
According to the latest Taiwan’s phone market share ranking (October 2023), Google Pixel devices rose several places in the top 10, overtaking Sony in that market.
More specifically, comparing September with October, Google Pixel devices went from 9th place to 4th place in Taiwan’s phone market share ranking, representing the largest increase among all the top 10 brands. This milestone is another example of how Google smartphones have been gradually gaining popularity, not only in Europe, but around the world.
In October, sales of Google Pixel phones in Taiwan were only surpassed by Apple (1st place), Samsung (2nd place), and OPPO (3rd place).
General top 10 smartphone brands in Taiwan
If we talk about the overall phone market share by brand in Taiwan, a report from ePrice market agency (via 3c.ltn) shows that Google Pixel devices are in 6th place. The complete general top 10 is as follows:
- Apple: 52,9%
- Samsung: 20%
- OPPO: 8,7%
- Vivo: 5%
- Redmi: 4,4%
- Google: 2,1%
- Sony: 1,9%
- Realme: 1,8%
- ASUS: 1,1%
- Xiaomi: 0,6%
So, while sales of Google Pixel devices are on the rise and experienced an ‘explosion’ in October, they still maintain an overall ‘niche’ position in the Taiwan market. The situation is similar in other markets around the world where the company’s phones have been gaining popularity, but have not yet taken the overall top spots.
That said, with the greater importance that Google has been placing on marketing, and considering that its Pixel phones are receiving more and more useful exclusive features, it is likely that sooner rather than later we will see Google in much higher positions of overall phone market share.
