Here’s the crux of the article in video form:

The introduction of foldable smartphones brought a new level of innovation and excitement to the mobile industry.

Google Pixel Fold is among the highly anticipated devices in this category, promising cutting-edge technology and an immersive user experience.

However, as with any new technology, the Pixel Fold is also bound to carry its fair share of issues. That said, some early adopters of Google Pixel Fold have raised concerns about the device’s inconsistent network performance.

Reports from frustrated users indicate the device’s tendency to switch between 4G and 5G networks or experience low signal strength (1,2,3).

This constant switching is seemingly resulting in disrupted data connections and affecting the overall user experience.

While it is true that it has only recently started shipping, and therefore there’s limited data available on the causes of the cellular issues, some speculation has arisen regarding the device’s chipset as a potential factor.

I think it has to do with the fact that right now, they are designing the G3 chip and their suppliers expect them to order 2-3 months before Pixel 8 comes out (as this was the same with Pixel 6/7). Pixel Fold probably had the design finalized a few months before Pixel 8’s launch and they aren’t ready to put a experimental new chip into a device that is in the ultra-premium market.

It’s worth noting that previous Tensor G2 smartphones, like the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, also experienced cellular connectivity issues.

And now to have Google Pixel Fold exhibit cellular issues, including frequent switching between 4G and 5G networks and low signal strength have caused disappointment among users.

Also, there are currently few reports because many users have not received their Pixel Fold as a result of the shipment delays.

In the meantime, users are advised to keep an eye out for software updates from Google, as these updates may contain improvements targeting the reported problems.

We will update this story once new related developments emerge.
