If you love Google Pixel’s Call Screen feature, the March Feature Drop brings an exciting upgrade that tackles those awkward moments when a caller goes silent. Google is introducing the ‘hello’ chip in Call Screen, a simple but powerful tool to streamline call interactions on your Pixel.
We’ve all been there – you answer a call, and there’s nothing but silence on the other end. Is it a robocall? A wrong number? With the ‘hello’ chip, Pixel Call Screen puts you in control. A simple tap on the ‘hello’ chip prompts Google Assistant to ask the caller to speak, eliminating the uncertainty of why they’re calling. This helps you quickly determine if the call is important, saving you the frustration of waiting for a response that may never come.
Sometimes, even with Call Screen, you might be momentarily unavailable. Google has thought of that too! If you can’t answer right away, Google Assistant will now inform the caller to wait a bit longer. This adds a touch of courtesy and lets legitimate callers know you’re trying to connect.
The ‘hello’ chip is part of the March Feature Drop for Google Pixel devices. This new addition will be available on the Pixel 6 and newer models, including the Pixel Fold. Currently, the feature is limited to the United States, which isn’t surprising. Moreover, it’s only available in English at this time. That said, in case you’ve just hopped on board the Pixel bandwagon, you can check out our detailed guide on how to use Call Screen.
