New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on January 11, 2022) follows:
The Google Pixel Buds A-Series are the company’s most affordable TWS earphones. They are a reduced version of the Google Pixel Buds launched in 2020, maintaining several of its main features.
However, in the last few weeks, users of the Google Pixel Buds A have been facing some issues related to the adjustment of the sound.
More specifically, it seems that the Google Pixel Buds A are not maintaining the bass slider levels set by the user after disconnecting from the smartphone.
For those who don’t know, the earphones received the bass slider feature with their most recent firmware update in early December 2021. But, it still seems to require a bit of work (1, 2, 3).
Google Pixel Buds A-Series bass slider issue
From multiple reports, Google Pixel Buds A are losing the sound bass levels set by the user. This occurs when the earphones are disconnected and reconnected to the smartphone.
The bass boost setting goes to default value after reconnect.
Successfully upgraded my Pixel Buds A-series to the latest firmware 3.282.0 on my Pixel 2 XL running on Android 10 and got the bass slider. It doesn’t seem to work properly. After reconnecting, for example the next day, the bass boosting fades away, it sounds by default almost without bass and everytime I have to move the slider left and right to make it work again.

Buds A not keeping sound settings
Anyone else have this issue? I have a 6 pro and got the latest update to my buds A. I put bass all the way up and it works great. Then the next time i use them the settings are exactly where i have them but there’s no bass. When i go back into settings and undo and redo it fixes them back to the bass settings i want.

Affected users have been experiencing this issue since the bass slider became available. However, the earphones has not received any more firmware updates to correct the bug.
Issue already escalated to the Google team
Having said the above, the glitch has already been escalated to higher levels. A Google product expert confirms this on the company’s support forums.
By the way, I went ahead and escalated this thread to see if we can get this potential bug checked into. I’ll let you know if I get any updates.
