Adobe has finally added the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro devices to its list of phones that support Adobe Camera RAW.

The Google Pixel 8 duo is arguably one of the best phones for mobile photography. The recent DxOMark results also point towards them being great picks for both images and videos. So with the added support for editing and processing RAW images in Adobe’s Lightroom and Photoshop apps, photographers can take their edits to the next level.

RAW support is currently available for the front-facing, wide-angle, and main camera on the Pixel 8. The Pixel 8 Pro on the other hand gets support for RAW images for the front-facing, wide-angle, telephoto, and main camera. So basically, no matter which lens you capture RAW images from on the Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro, you’ll be able to edit those DNG format images on Lightroom and Photoshop.

The minimum Camera RAW plug-in required to edit RAW images from the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro is version 16.0.1. So make sure you’re running the latest version of Photoshop or Lightroom to make use of the newly added support.

Having said this, editing RAW images isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. For most users, Google’s post-processing capabilities on the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro should be more than enough to give you social media ready pictures. Moreover, you can always use the in-built Google Photos app for filters or other minor tweaks.

However, if you want to go hands on and have full control yourself, the added support for the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro in Adobe Camera RAW will make your life easier.
