Do you remember watching ‘Mr. India’ as a kid? Ah, the nostalgia! It was one of those iconic Bollywood movies that everyone, from toddlers to grandparents, simply adored. Well, guess what, Mr. India is back, and this time, he’s here to help promote the Google Pixel 8 series in India.

If you’re an active denizen of social media or a fan of Apoorva, aka the.rebel.kid, or perhaps you follow the official Google India page, then you’ve probably stumbled upon their electrifying new Mr. India-themed ad campaign. And let me tell you, it’s nothing short of epic!

What exactly are they doing in Google Pixel 8 Mr. India themed ad campaign?

Buckle up because this rollercoaster of a campaign is nothing short of amazing. It all kicked off with none other than the evergreen Anil Kapoor, who tweeted about the return of Arun Verma (the character he portrayed in the 1987 hit film). The internet went berserk, and the excitement levels were off the charts. But Google had more surprises up its sleeve.

Mr India teasers

Shortly after Anil Kapoor’s tweet, the official Google India Twitter handle started teasing us with a video that left us all intrigued.

The video showed Anil Kapoor’s Instagram profile, but there was something peculiar – everything had mysteriously vanished. However, when you ran a red spectacle over the screen, a post suddenly became visible. Now, to those unaware, Arun Verma, Mr. India himself, was only visible in the movie when bathed in red light. Clever, right?

Google’s marketing team took this concept and ran with it. They started sharing stills from the movie, showcasing their brand-new ‘Magic Eraser’ feature, which allows users to remove unwanted elements from their photos. But instead of simply demonstrating the feature, they added a twist of nostalgia that hits you right in the feels.

Google Pixel 8 and Mr. India team up to evoke nostalgia

For those of us who grew up in the ’90s, ‘Mr. India’ was more than just a movie. So, when we see those iconic scenes reimagined or updated with the new Magic Eraser feature, it’s like taking a trip down memory lane. It’s a brilliant move by Google to tap into the collective nostalgia of a generation.

Showcasing a feature but with a twist

One of the highlights of this campaign is a recent video in which Google managed to reunite Roopchand and Mr. India on screen once again. The magic happens in a humorous and heartwarming way that showcases the Magic Eraser feature brilliantly.

In this particular video, Roopchand, Mr. India’s sidekick, takes a series of pictures with his invisible superhero friend. However, when he proudly shows them to his wife, there’s a jaw-dropping twist – there’s no one in the pictures beside him! Mischievous Mr. India has erased himself from all the images before sharing them with Roopchand. Talk about a classic prankster move!

Kudos to Google’s marketing team

This brilliantly showcases Google’s advertisement strategy – it’s not just about demonstrating how the feature works, but it’s also about adding that unexpected, nostalgic twist that tugs at the heartstrings of fans.

And let’s be real, it’s a fantastic way to showcase the Magic Eraser feature. And the best part is that it’s relatable. Everyone, young and old, knows the feeling of capturing a perfect moment, only to be photobombed or distracted by something unexpected.

As a ’90s kid, I can’t help but appreciate the genius behind this campaign. It’s not just about selling a product, it’s about making a connection. They’ve taken an iconic character and movie and breathed new life into it, using it to market their innovative technology. I just want to see more and more of this in the future.
