A Google Pixel 8 ad has been the latest ‘victim’ of the actions of an environmental activist in Salisbury, UK. The individual covered it with posters that seek to go against what they call ‘reverse weaponized psychology.’

‘Extinction Rebellion’ activist vandalizes a Google Pixel 8 ad in Salisbury

The activist in question is a member of the group Extinction Rebellion. After seeing a Google Pixel 8 ad set at a bus stop, they covered it with posters to form the phrase ‘Advertising s***s in your head!’, attacking this type of ad.

The activist has even left a QR code that redirects to a website where there are methods to ‘deface’ these types of advertisements wherever they are. They encourage others to follow their actions using the slogan ‘use this space, open and subvert’.

The manuals shared on the website seem to be very focused on the advertising that is placed at bus stops. They not only suggest the methods of attack, but also what type of clothing to wear to go unnoticed while committing the act.

The vandalization of the Google Pixel 8 ad does not appear to have gone down well. Even city councilor Paul Sample recommends that those who have problems with this type of advertising direct their complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority.

‘Extinction Rebellion’ defines itself as a ‘global group’ that uses non-violent methods to protest against environmental issues. At the moment, the organization has not offered any official word regarding the vandalization of the Google Pixel 8 ad in Salisbury.
