Some Google Pixel 7 & 7 Pro users disappointed by speaker quality, and here's how to make it better

Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are the successors to the preceding Pixel 6 series. They are well-priced and pack a serious punch thanks to the new Tensor G2 chipset.

The Pixel 7 duo both ship with stereo speakers, one at the top in the earpiece grille and the other at the bottom of the phone.

Many Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro users have taken to social media platforms like Reddit to express their dissatisfaction with the speaker quality of their new devices (1,2,3,4,5,6,7).

The majority of reports indicate that the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro speakers are powerful, yet audio is incredibly tinny and lacks bass. The sound is quite heavy on treble, with little bass and unbalanced sound.

According to some, the speakers of the latest flagships are significantly worse than older models in the series like the 4a, 5, and 6.

Others also suggest that the regular Pixel 7 has worse audio quality when compared to the Pro version.

I am by no means an audiophile, but even I can’t help but notice how tinny the sound is on my new regular Pixel 7. I initially noticed while listening to the sultry tones of Alt Shift X–while his voice is deep and resonant on my Pixel 6, it sounds bad coming out of my 7. This is at low-to-medium volume, not super loud. I’ve tried enabling Adaptive Sound to no effect.

I just got the 7 and comparing the speakers side by side to my pixel 3, the 3 is significantly better. I’m pretty surprised how bad the 7 sounds.

Some users also complain that the audio output from the top and bottom speakers is also unbalanced. The key issue here is that the bottom speaker is much louder than the top one.

I have the pixel 7 pro too. The top speaker is just really quiet as far as I can tell. If you block the sound coming from the bottom speakers you can hear it but, otherwise, it sounds like all of the sound is coming from the bottom two speakers.

Apparently, the latest update made the sound better but still not as good as on previous Pixel models.

2. Then open ‘Sound and Vibration’
3. Select Adaptive Sound and then turn it on.

3. The Wavelet or XTREMEMusic are another pair of third-party apps for adjusting equalizers. Test them out as well.
