Google Pixel 7 & 7 Pro NFC too sensitive or range too long; users want quick settings toggle to turn on/off

Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro are the company’s latest flagship smartphones that come with various new features like Clear Calling, Guided Frame, and SuperRes Zoom.

However, like any other device, Pixel 7 series smartphones have their own share of bugs and issues as well.

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), multiple Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro owners claim that the NFC range is too long making it quite sensitive as well.

This is problematic for users when they are near payment terminals as sometimes NFC gets activated even before they know it.

However, it should not get activated unless the smartphone’s screen is on or make payments automatically if its not unlocked securely.

Some allege that they need to turn off NFC at airport as on scanning the boarding pass Google Wallet appears on the top of it.

Others claim that they end up swiping the wrong cards while scanning a barcode for making payments to retailers. As of now, there is no option in the quick settings toggle or tile to turn it off and back on when needed.

And understandably, they have taken to various web forums to request for this toggle.

Do I have to go to the main menu every time when I want to use NFC and turn it on there. Will it drain the battery if I stay it on?

Users have tried installing third party apps like QuickTiles to create a shortcut tile for the quick toggle but with little success.

Unfortunately, Google has not officially responded to the matter yet. In the meantime, we’ll keep tabs on the issue where NFC is too sensitive or range is too long on Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro units and update you.
