The Google Pixel 6 series arrived last year as a direct successor to the Google Pixel 5 phones. Both lineups enjoy similar software support when it comes to receiving new features.

Google Pixels often receive special updates with unique features that are not in the Android/AOSP base code. These special updates are called ‘Pixel Feature Drop’.

One of the new features in the March Pixel Feature Drop is the custom text stickers. However, the custom text stickers are currently missing or not appearing for some Google Pixel 6, Pixel 5, and other older Pixels.

Gboard custom text stickers missing for some Google Pixel 6 and 5 users

‘Custom text stickers’ is a feature that automatically creates stickers according to the text you are writing. It is one of the major new features in the March Pixel Feature Drop.

However, as of today (April 12) some users are still waiting for custom text stickers to be available on their Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 5 devices.

it’s April 2022 and I still don’t have custom stickers in messaging (pixel 6 pro)

They announced this during the march feature drop so wtf… I’ve been waiting but I’m just realizing tonight that my 6 pro is missing multiple key features from the past months feature drops…. Wtf.

I have 6 pro and I also can’t get it to.work. Have set US English as the only language and still no joy. Also with Happy Birthday Jen example and nothing. Do UK users just get shafted. We see all these features advertised and half of them you have to be US based to get them. And by the time they do or if they roll out your phones old.

‘Custom text stickers’ feature is not exclusive to the latest Pixel Phones. Even older generations that are still within the support time will also receive it.

However, there are reports from users of older Pixel generations (such as the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3a) describing the same issue.

The rollout could still be in process, a potential workaround

Some reports suggest the feature hasn’t arrived for everyone because the rollout is gradual, especially since it is beginning to show up randomly for others.

I’d actually given up on it as I tried a few times and never saw it. Your post got me to try it again, and now I finally see both custom emojis and emoji kitchen in texting apps. Maybe it’s still working its way thru rolling out to everyone…?

However, if you want to try to ‘force’ the feature, there is a workaround that has reportedly helped some:

I had trouble getting it to work at first, the English (US) keyboard is the one needed to get it working on my P6. I wasn’t sure what made it finally work, but I removed all other keyboards and only had English (US) and then restarted the device and suddenly it started working.
