Google seems to have begun rolling out the Photo Stacks feature on the Google Photos app. This new feature helps one keep their photo feed organized by clubbing all similar photos taken together in a stacked layout.

A user took to Reddit to show off the new feature with a screenshot. The Redditor who goes by u/alexandriaofwar, mentioned that they noticed the feature through a pop-up in the Google Photos app. Here’s a screenshot of the post for reference:

Granted the post was made in a Google Pixel 8 sub-reddit, I’m assuming that’s the device on which the Redditor is showing off the feature. I’ve not come across any other posts from users claiming to have received the option to enable Photo Stacks. Moreover, in my own testing (with the latest Google Photos app), I wasn’t able to find the option to enable Photo Stacks anywhere. So it seems the update is rolling out in batches and may end up taking days if not weeks to go live to more users.

The screenshot here shows five images as part of the stack, however, it’s unclear if there will be any limit to the number of images in Photo Stacks. For shutterbugs who click dozens of images to get the ‘perfect shot’, Photo Stacks will be a great way to keep their photo gallery organized and free from clutter.
