Nest Aware price increase announced last year arrives in Canada from March 25

The Nest Aware price increase announced by Google last year for the US market is now taking effect north of the border. Emails started going out out on Thursday (1,2) informing Nest Aware customers in Canada about the upcoming changes beginning next month.

Nest Aware Plus, the premium tier, will see its monthly fee jump from CA$16 to CA$20, while the annual subscription will move from CA$160 to CA$200. The base plan is also getting a price increment, going from CA$10/month or CA$100/year to the same monthly price but a slightly higher annual cost of CA$110. These new plans provide 30 days of event video history and intelligent alerts, including features like Familiar faces and detection of smoke, carbon monoxide, and glass breaking.

For users of the first-generation Nest Aware plan, the price adjustments depend on the chosen storage option (5, 10, or 30 days of 24/7 video history) and the number of cameras connected. These annual fees will increase by CA$50 to CA$110. But it’s important to note that these changes will only affect your next Nest Aware bill that falls on or after March 25, 2024. For reference, US price increases saw Nest Aware move from $6/month and $60/year to $8/month and $80 annually. The Plus tier now costs $15/month or $150 annually, compared to its previous pricing of $12/month and $120/year.
