Google Messages, the company’s SMS and instant messaging service, is widely used on millions of mobile devices around the world as the favorite option of many.

As in other similar services, Google Messages allows you to send both text and files. But lately, app users are having trouble trying to share.

According to multiple reports, some Google Messages users are facing a bug trying to share any type of file other than text (1, 2, 3, 4).

Google Messages issues while sharing files other than text

Many Google Messages users report issues that do not allow them to share non-text files or elements. For example, for some users, problems occur when trying to share screenshots.

Screenshots are not automatically going into messages to share.

I use screenshots daily and get an issue sometimes when I try to share it with someone in my messages. It will not add the attachment and I will have to go to my photos and share it that way. When I use to screenshot I can hit the share button and automatically share it with someone. It does it sometimes but lately it has been buggy in that category.

On the other hand, there are reports where it is pointed out that not even the links/hypertext are sent correctly through Google Messages. Apparently, users receive them as plain text, unable to click on them.

Is there a way to clink links sent to me through texts?

I send a lot of links through text messaging. TikToks, Pinterest, movie listings, job postings, etc. I just got my new Pixel today and I cannot send or clink on links sent through my text messages. Any advice?

Also, there are also users who reportedly suffer from the glitch when they try to share any type of file, link, multimedia file, Maps location, etc.

I’ve noticed a consistent bug when sharing photos, map locations, URLs from Chrome, etc. using Google Messages. Simply put, using the sharing menu results in a blank message about 2/3 of the time. If I repeat the process (e.g. open web page in Chrome, click sharing menu, choose Messages, then choose either an existing or new conversation), then after 3-4 attempts, it works.

Some users can’t download sent files neither

Receiving files through Google Messages has also been facing the glitch lately. Reports indicate that users receiving images or videos are unable to download them in conversation.
