Google Messages is a popular app that allows users across the globe to communicate via SMS and RCS.

However, some are frustrated as they have been facing some difficulties when sending messages to offline contacts via RCS.

Google Messages option to automatically resend as text (SMS/MMS) not working

Multiple Google Messages users (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) are experiencing an issue when sending messages even when the option to ‘Automatically resend as text (SMS/MMS)’ is enabled.

It is alleged that if one sends RCS messages and the recipient is offline then the messages are not automatically resent as SMS. Due to this bug, users often face delays in sending or receiving important messages.

The issue has been persistent for the past few months and remains unresolved to date.

A user says that their messages remain undelivered for hours if they have been sent as RCS messages. Also, they have tried using the automatic resend feature on different devices, but with no success.

Another user claims that the first message will not be sent if RCS is not available.

Some are now even thinking of switching to alternative apps.

Unfortunately, Google has not officially responded to the matter, but we do hope that the company acknowledges and resolves this issue soon.
