A growing number of Google Pixel users are reporting ongoing login issues caused by conflicts between their personal Google accounts and separate Google Workspace accounts linked to their devices. The problems seem to revolve around Google services attempting unnecessary logins into Workspace accounts, even when those accounts lack permissions to use those services.

Users describe scenarios where their devices repeatedly try to log into Google Maps with a work email associated with Google Workspace, despite those accounts having Maps disabled by their company administrators. This leads to constant error messages like “We are sorry, but you do not have access to Google Maps”.

Further complications arise for those who once tried Workspace but canceled their subscriptions. These users find themselves persistently redirected to Workspace logins and payment prompts when trying to access basic Google services tied to their personal accounts. Frustratingly, deleting the inactive Workspace accounts seems impossible.

The issue has gained visibility in online forums, with one user stating, “Every single time I open the Google Maps app on my phone, it automatically tries to log into my work account as well (since they are both added to the device). However, since Maps is disabled by my work admin, it just results in an annoying prompt that says “We are sorry, but you do not have access to Google Maps” and “Your account is managed by an organization that has this service turned off for its users.” Is there a way I can stay logged in to both accounts for Gmail but only my personal account for Maps? If not, this is a very stupid oversight.”

The problem isn’t limited to Google Maps and Google Pixel users. Other Android users are also encountering persistent login attempts with services like Drive, Docs, and Sheets prompting similar “access denied” errors. Notably, these problems appear to coincide with recent changes to Google’s sign-in system, although there’s talk of potential links to the latest Android 14 update.

This issue has also been reported in Canadian telecom company TELUS’ community forum (1,2), affecting users with various Workspace accounts. TELUS support teams have managed to replicate the issue and confirmed they have filed a case with Google to investigate the problem. Additionally, a product expert within Google’s community forums has also escalated the issue to bring it to the company’s attention.

While a fix is pending, affected Google Pixel and other Android users can expect continued error messages and frustrating login redirects as Google services struggle to reconcile personal and Workspace accounts. Google has not yet provided an official statement or timeline for a solution.
