In one of its new attempts to make Pixel devices part of the mainstream, Google Canada has teamed up with Toronto Raptors’ Scott Barnes & Jack Armstrong, two notable figures in sports, in a new campaign dedicated to its Pixel 8 series.

Gone are those times where Pixel phones seemed to seek a small niche market with little advertising and limited availability. With these types of marketing moves, the internet search giant seems to be aiming for a much larger reach going forward.

Google Canada new Pixel 8 ads with Scott Barnes & Jack Armstrong

Camera quality and features have always been a key feature in Pixel phones, even since the first model, so it is quite normal that Google makes an effort to promote those sections especially.

That’s just what we see in the new Google Canada ads made in collaboration with Cossette, starring basketball player Scott Barnes, sportscaster Jack Armstrong and the Pixel 8.

The campaign includes a couple of ads where we can see people using the Pixel 8 cameras in a natural setting and in a nighttime environment with artificial light, in addition to indoors.

Apparently, Google wants to promote not only the photography capabilities, but also the quality of their processing and the integrated AI-powered editing tools. In one of the ads, users take a group selfie, but notice that there is an element of the scene that ‘damages’ the photo, so they easily remove it with the Magic Eraser tool.

In other ad, users change the facial expression of one of them for another that looks better. Another ad boasts a feature that allows you to eliminate unwanted noise in a video recording, something that can be very useful. All this happens while Scott Barnes and Jack Armstrong comment on the situation funnily in the background, as if they were commenting on a match.

We will probably see more similar ads in the future, since the cameras on the Pixel phones are one of the main selling points that the Pixel 8 series has to attract current and new fans to the family. Also, these kinds of ads help create closeness between fans of different niches, such as sports in this case.
