Google Calendar is a time management and scheduling application that comes pre-installed on many Android devices as part of Google Services. It is also available on iOS and desktop through the web.

Other than checking dates and upcoming occasions, Google Calendar also offers services such as setting reminders, scheduling events, sending invites for events, and managing tasks.

However, recently some users reported an issue with Google Calendar where email and trash icons are missing in the events section, making it harder to send event invites or delete it.

And now, two more Google Calendar issues have surfaced. As per reports, some users are having syncing issues between mobile and web versions of the app, while some are complaining of an event color coding bug.

Google Calendar not syncing between mobile & web version

Some users are complaining that Google Calendar is not syncing data between their mobile and web versions. As a result, whenever they make some changes in the mobile app, it does not reflect on the web version.

Here are some reports for reference:

Both Samsung phone and tablet are version 10. Both of them have stopped uploading calendar changes to the cloud. I could use a laptop/ChromeBrowser make a change to my calendar and those changes appear on phone and tablet. I have done all diagnostics including removing app and account. I have written this to Google Support twice and also posted in the forum. Help! (Source)

I gave been struggling the last couple of days as my Google calendar on android and laptop no longer sync and I can’t seem to find a simple way to get them to communicate, and I use my calendar everyday for clients so pretty fed up as I have just wasted the last 2 hours and no positive result. Can you help me fix this ASAP. (Source)

This issue has become annoying especially for those who use Google Calendar on a daily basis, and this can be seen from the Google Play Store review section of the app.

Fortunately, Google noticed the reports on syncing issue and suggested some troubleshooting steps that you can check here.

If these basic troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue then you can also approach Google Calendar Help Community for further help.

Event color coding issue

Google Calendar helps you differentiate your events such as work or personal using different color codes. However, users are reporting that they are missing the color codes in the Calendar app after a recent update.

The color options on Google Calendar make it easy to identify the various events in their schedule. But with this option missing, users are now finding it harder to organize their daily events which is frustrating.

Here are some reports for reference:

I love Google Calendar especially for the color coordination between work, appointments, personal etc. However, that option is now missing making it hard to organize my busy life now. Yes, I might be dependent on the color but it made it so much easier to have a visual of tasks/events/work events by color codes. I need color in my life. Please fix. Then I’ll go back to 5 stars. I used this calendar for ages with different phones. I just recently upgraded to Samsung S21 ultra and now when I put things into my calender I can’t change the color of the task. Since I like to keep kids appointments separate from mine. Please help. Thank you. (Source)

On the brighter side, Google has acknowledged the issue with event color coding and said that they are currently reviewing it, probably with the intention of restoring the functionality.

Unfortunately, there is no workaround available at the moment that can fix the event color code bug or syncing issue.

We hope that both problems get fixed as soon as possible. We will keep you updated on this matter as and when anything new comes to our notice.
