If you are a regular Google Calendar user, it seems that the app will make it easier and more intuitive to create items thanks to a couple of new small buttons that will allow you to switch between ‘event’ and ‘task’ while you add the details.
New Google Calendar buttons would allow you to switch between ‘event’ and ‘task’
Currently, when you access Google Calendar and tap the ‘+’ button to create new entries, the UI makes you choose the type of item to add (‘Task’ or Event’) from the beginning.
After choosing the type of entry, the app will show you a screen where you can enter the details of either the event or the task. If you change your mind about the entry type, you will have to go back (discarding what you had written) and return to the entry type selection screen.
It seems that Google realized that this behavior can be a bit annoying for those who use the ‘event and task creation’ feature heavily, so they are working on adding little buttons or ‘chips’ that are always present during Google Calendar ‘elements creation UI’, so you can switch between event and task whenever you want.
The change (spotted by TheSpAndroid) has not yet been deployed massively, since you need to enable the ‘Flag – ObjectTypeSwitching__enabled’ flag in the APK v2023.48.0-585487445-release, but it may not take long to reach everyone since the UI already looks pretty polished.
Although it seems like a small tweak, the new UI can save a lot of time for those who use Google Calendar to organize all their daily events and tasks, in addition to refining the user experience to make it more user-friendly, something that’s always welcome.
