Pixel users who rely on Google Assistant to send their WhatsApp messages are facing a frustrating issue where commands seem to work seamlessly, but upon checking WhatsApp, the message never actually sent. This functionality is among those that survived the axe when Google Assistant dropped support for nearly 20 features earlier this year, including support for sending WhatsApp audio messages.

This isn’t an isolated incident. A growing number of reports in community forums suggests the problem is quite new, affecting both Google Pixel users and those with other Android devices. It’s even impacting Android Auto users. The snag seems to have popped up very recently, with the finger of blame likely pointing towards a recent WhatsApp update.

The way it typically unfolds is eerily consistent. You trigger Google Assistant, dictate your WhatsApp message, and receive the standard “message sent” confirmation. But for some reason, the message is never sent to the intended recipient. And when you open WhatsApp to double-check, the conversation has no trace of your words. We can confirm this is the case with our Pixel and other Android devices too.

For some users, voice-command accessibility is essential. Be it those with visual impairments, the elderly who struggle with typing, or anyone juggling tasks, the ability to quickly fire off messages hands-free is vital. This unexpected glitch disrupts that vital flow, leaving those reliant on the feature feeling stranded.

While Google has yet to officially acknowledge the issue, the growing number of reports suggests a fix is desperately needed. Undoubtedly, those affected will be waiting with bated breath for a software patch to restore this functionality.

It can be frustrating when seemingly basic features suddenly break down. While these issues almost always get resolved, the interim period of inconvenience and frustration is real. Hopefully, Google will quickly address this issue and restore the smooth integration between Google Assistant and WhatsApp that users rely on to send messages to their loved ones.
