New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Google recommends that OEMs push at least two Android OS upgrades to their devices. While this is usually true for most high-end phones, the chances of receiving more than two major OS upgrades on entry-level Android devices are quite minimal.

This, however, isn’t true for the many budget Xiaomi devices out there, at least if you think of the company’s MIUI skin as its in-house OS. Given the flurry of features that usually accompany a new MIUI skin, it is worth taking a seat on the major OS updates’ table.

Even better is that unlike any other Android device, entry-level Xiaomi devices get treated to years of MIUI updates, some going as far as three or even more years.

A good example here is the entry-level Redmi 4X, which was unveiled in March 2017 and has just picked up its MIUI 11 stable update in China deep into its third year on the market. The new OS, as you would have guessed, is still based on Android Nougat.

Arriving as version V11.0.1.0.NAMCNXM, the airborne update weighs in at 559MB and tags along quite a bunch of new features baked right from Xiaomi’s in-house oven. We are looking at features like a new design for a full-screen experience, nature-inspired sounds, and more.

Below is a summary of the Redmi 4X MIUI 11 update changes:

Comprehensive design optimized for full screen display devices
– Removing visual clutter, improving touch controls, and refining the use of color allowed us to create the system where nothing stands between you and the content

Sounds of nature
– Notification sounds won’t make you tired. Now, they keep changing dynamically, just like nature does.
