New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on September 19, 2023) follows:

The excitement of upgrading to the latest iOS 17 update quickly turn into frustration for Geometry Dash fans as a number of players immediately started reporting crashing issues.

With each iOS update, Apple introduces new features, enhancements, and bug fixes. However, sometimes these updates inadvertently cause compatibility issues with certain platforms.

And Geometry Dash seems to be one of the casualties of iOS 17.

@RobTopGames geometry dash is completely broken with ios 17 you can’t even open gd @today_gd idk if you wanna report on this

The core issue behind Geometry Dash’s malfunction on iOS 17 is the transition from 32-bit to 64-bit apps. Apparently, Apple has dropped support for 32-bit apps in iOS 17, rendering them incompatible.

And Geometry Dash, unfortunately, falls into this category. As a result, it cannot run on iOS 17, which only supports 64-bit applications.

32 bit apps are discontinued and gd is a 32 bit app

This has understandably left many fans of the game disappointed and eager for a solution (1,2,3,4,5).

Fix incoming with v2.2 update

The good news is that there is still hope for Geometry Dash players. According to some, a fix for the iOS 17 compatibility problem will be included in the upcoming v2.2 update, which is expected to be available next month.

Update 2 (September 26, 2023)

06:33 pm (IST): Besides iOS 17, GD also does not work in iOS 15, and people complained about this a few years ago as well (1,2,3).
