It’s been a few days since the launch of the Galaxy S24 series, so the tests and benchmarks are already emerging. One of the most important sections for smartphone users is battery life, since it does not matter if a device is very powerful or capable if it is not able to withstand your pace of daily use. To shed more light on this, a YouTuber, XEETCHARGE, carried out an extensive SoT (screen-on time) battery life test on four flagships, including the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and the Pixel 8 Pro.

It’s noteworthy that the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s battery capacity is the same as its predecessor (5,000 mAh), but the combination of new hardware and better optimization resulted in a considerable boost in endurance, reaching almost 11 hours of battery life (Galaxy S23 Ultra got 8 hours and 10 minutes in the test). Regarding the Pixel 8 Pro, although the battery life on Pixel phones has not been their strong point since the implementation of the Tensor SoCs, this model in question brings notable improvements with respect to its predecessor.

Even so, the Pixel 8 Pro battery life improvements are not enough to be at the level of the other current flagships on the test, since its battery life of 10 hours leaves it only above the Galaxy S23 Ultra (although by an important difference). That said, the Google phone was closer than expected to the battery life of the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which reached 10 hours and 20 minutes on autonomy.

The superiority of the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s battery life could increase over time

That said, there are some unspecified details that would be important to know to give a definitive verdict, such as battery status and display settings (resolution and refresh rate). Even so, all devices tested seem to offer a good battery backup, especially highlighting the Galaxy S24 Ultra, whose advantage could become even greater in the future through updates since it has just been released.
