Update 1 (December 07):

Google has started rolling out Android 8.1 Oreo, which claims to fix the touch screen dead spots issue. Google employee Orrin took to the official Pixel User community to break the news. More info here

Original story here:

Google’s new flagship phones have been receiving a lot of bad press, with new problems showing up every passing day. And now a new issue has cropped up – users are reporting touch screen dead spots near the edges of Pixel 2 XL’s screen.

Just a week back, users on the official Pixel user community and Reddit highlighted that Pixel 2XL was not detecting touch along the edge of device’s screen, specifically on the right side. Those affected note that the touchscreen area along the edges works smoothly while sliding with a finger, but somehow gets less responsive when touched/tapped directly.

The following user-shared video clearly shows the problem in question:

Sensing the urgency of the matter, Google quickly swung into action, and this morning Google employee Orrin (who is also the Community Manager at the official Pixel help forum) not only acknowledged the problem, but also mentioned that the same will be addressed in a future OTA update.

The team has been investigating, and this will be addressed in a future OTA update

For now, the complainants are at peace after hearing that the aforementioned glitch will be taken care of. We are hopeful that the wait for fix will not be long, as Google’s already on it. Meanwhile, keep visiting back here, as we are keeping a close watch on all relevant developments related to this matter.
