Forza Horizon 5 is the latest installment in the Forza Motorsport spin-off series. The game is available on Xbox consoles (current and previous generation) and Windows OS devices.

Forza Horizon 5 offers a huge open world to explore in very high speed vehicles. The Forza Horizon games are focused on arcade driving, as opposed to the Forza Motorsport games’ realistic driving.

However, in the last few days, many Forza Horizon 5 players have been facing connection issues or an ‘Unable to connect to session’ error message that prevents them from enjoying multiplayer.

According to multiple reports, many players are getting the ‘Unable to connect to session’ error message when trying to access Forza Horizon multiplayer mode (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9).

Has anyone figured out what’s going on with the servers and why they’ve been down for almost 3 days?

It seems a little ridiculous at this point given how long the game has been out and how many updates they’ve done. Is everyone having this problem or just some people? I’ve seen a lot of posts about it but haven’t seen any answers or reason why.

In some cases, affected players receive a ‘Region: Failed (0x0)’ error message, but the effect is the same (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11).

I’m unable in connect to to Horizon Life or any multiplayer. It worked briefly when I first installed the game, but stop after a few days. I have no problems connecting in Horizon 4. PGG support says it’s a Xbox problem. The Xbox’s built-in diagnostics state I have no problem connecting to Xbox Live.

Official acknowledgment, potential workarounds

Playground Games team is aware of the issue and is investigating. There is no information yet on an estimated arrival date for a fix.

That said, there are a couple of potential workarounds that reportedly help mitigate the issue. The first is to follow these steps:

I do have a functioning workaround you can try. I tested it this morning. Enter Horizon Life, let the Connectivity Issue dialog appear at the top, but dont interact with it. Go into “Online” and find a convoy to join. Once you join it, go back to Life and acknowledge the error. You can then leave the convoy you joined if you want, and you’re back to playing online.
