Fortnite players are reporting that they are unable to hire NPCs in ‘zero build’ or other modes to join them in battle. Players all over the world have raised quite a storm on social media to make the issue heard by the devs. It seems their efforts have been effective, as EPIC has posted a statement sharing an update on the issue.

Players can’t hire NPCs in Fortnite

In Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1, there are eight NPCs that can be hired, each serving a different function. Some of these characters can also be recruited for the right price, costing between 100 and 200 Gold Bars.

In Fortnite Season 4, there were five hireable NPCs, each appearing in different locations. These NPCs can help players complete weekly challenges and provide assistance in battles.

Unfortunately, for some reason, these NPCs are not allowing themselves to be hired in the current game. According to the reports, when the player approaches an NPC to hire them for the game, they only offer trade and some dialogues, but the option for hiring them doesn’t pop up on the screen.

Many players have been accustomed to hiring NPCs for their matches, which is why when the bug restricted them from taking their favorite in-game character on an adventure with them, the crowd naturally became quite upset. With a barrage of complaints on social media, players demanded answers from EPIC.

Official acknowledgement

With the mounting reports, the official support soon shared a statement about the issue. According to the statement posted on social media and the official card entry on Trello, the issue is solved, and it will be launched in the next update.
