Launched in 2017, Fortnite is one of the most popular Battle Royale titles on the internet. With millions of players worldwide, people keep coming back to the game thanks to frequent updates that bring in new and exciting content.

Having said that, Fortnite recently started Chapter 3 Season 1. However, the start of the new chapter also brought some performance issues that caused FPS drops.

Now, reports are coming in with Fortnite players saying that every time they see or use the Matrix emote, the game crashes and shows an error.

In case you are unaware or haven’t logged in to the game in the last few days, Fortnite recently collaborated with ‘The Matrix Resurrections’ to bring two emotes of which one is the famous pose where Neo dodges all bullets in slow motion.

The other one is Trinity’s floating kick. Apart from the emotes, Fortnite developers introduced a wrap that shows Matrix symbols and costs 500 V-Bucks.

Greetings. I thought it was a one time error on my end but the game does not crash anywhere else except when I try to open the Matrix items in the stiore and displays a crash message I never saw before. This is on PC. I hope this does not affect other platforms too. Edit: I managed to buy the emotes on PS5 since I can not on PC and I tried to play the emote on PC and like others said in other threads, trying to play the emotes on PC make the game crash too.

The Neo emote crashes when seen, through some experimenting with a friend it turns out that a part member can crash you and anyone in the same lobby as you (only tested in creative for the lobby one) if I’m not the only one, how many people could you crash with this bug?

It is interesting to note that the majority of reports are coming from those who view or use the Fortnite Matrix emotes on PC.

However, if you have someone in your lobby who is playing on consoles and using the emote, it will still cause the game to crash, which is really frustrating.

In case you haven’t noticed, the error suggests players switch to DirectX 11 mode. But it looks like those running the game on DX11 are affected by the bug as well.

Unfortunately, Epic Games is yet to acknowledge the Fortnite issue where Matrix emotes are crashing the game. When they do, we will inform you about the same so keep checking this space for updates.
