Here’s the crux of the article in video form:

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on July 7, 2022) follows:

Ever since its launch in 2017, Fortnite has become a global phenomenon. Last year, the title generated more than $5.8 billion in revenue.

It also happens to be the first game to run on Epic Games’ in-house developed Unreal Engine 5.0.

But soon after the developers made the switch, players have reported several issues like the PC version stuck on loading or connecting screen and many unable to dig up chests buried in sand.

Adding to the problem, Fortnite players are now reporting that audio resets to 0 or sound is not working on the Xbox, PlayStation, and PC (1,2,3,4,5).

It looks like the problem surfaced after the v21.20 update. Many said the sound stops working when in game and especially on the victory screen.

Some tried restarting the console and the game, but that isn’t helping either. Below are a few reports from Fortnite players for whom audio resets to 0 after the v21.20 update.

PC player here. After this new patch today 7/6/22, everytime I load into a new match or leave a match to return to lobby my audio settings all get lowered to 0% and I have to manually turn them back on. This happens every new match whether I load in from the lobby or load in from the previous match. During the loading screen to get into the pre-game lobby island, all sound cuts out because the game lowered all of my sound settings to 0%. Same happens when I leave a match to return to lobby. Have tried restarting game/computer. And have also tried verifying files.

All Audio categories except “Main” revert to ZERO volume EVERY TIME I join a match. If I go into settings and turn them all up manually, they stay up for that single match, then all revert back to ZERO VOLUME again after the match is over. That includes Music, Dialogue, Sound Effects, Voice Chat, Cinematics, and Picture in Picture. The only setting that remains up is Main, but with all the others at zero, that leaves no sound. It is too cumbersome to have to adjust each volume setting back up for each individual match.
