For Honor is a fighting game developed by Ubisoft whose main attraction is a third-person combat system where you must calculate every move to emerge victorious.

In For Honor, you take on the role of various historical warrior classes such as Vikings, Samurai or Knights, each with their own moves, attacks, strengths and weaknesses.

Recently, For Honor received a major update that brought the crossplay feature. However, many players are facing issues after the update (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12).

According to multiple reports, For Honor is experiencing a framerate drop issue when you play against players from other consoles or platforms (crossplay).

Social platforms like Twitter and Reddit are full of reports about the issue. Many For Honor players are facing the framerate drop issue after the most recent crossplay update.

According to reports, there are severe drops to around 15 fps, which negatively impacts gameplay and can put you at a disadvantage against others (1, 2, 3, 4).

I have Frame issues on next Gen; I am on a PS5 and when I’m fighting certain lobbies I feel like I’m back on my PS4. Is anyone else experiencing this? it’s only when crossplay occurs that the frame rate drops.

Yeah. There’s another issue. For some reason my Xbox X|S has been experiencing long term frame rate drops. It’s at 60 during the menu mid match but 30 when playing.

It’s worth pointing out that the For Honor framerate drop issue happens when the matchmaking system assigns you an opponent who plays on a different console or platform.

I am on a ps5, my frame rate is perfect in the normal game modes but in the new event, I feel like I’m back on my ps4. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Edit: just came across pc player in duel, it’s only when crossplay occurs that the frame rate drops.

I have the series S and I fought a guy on pc and it was like I was lagging, the guy pretty much walked all over me because I couldn’t see anything coming.

Issue acknowledged, potential workaround

That said, there is a potential workaround that could help you mitigate the issue. Basically you can try to disable crossplay so that the games are smooth again.

However, this can have negative consequences such as having to wait a long time to get a match.

Fortunately, the Ubisoft team is already aware of the issue and is investigating (1, 2), but there is no ETA for the fix yet.

We are continuing to investigate the cause of the framerate drop issue. Unfortunately, we do not have an ETA on resolution at this time. We will continue to update the community as we work toward a solution.

01:06 pm (IST): For Honor support on Twitter has informed that they have deployed a fix for the FPS bug. Moreover, they are currently validating all platforms to ensure that this issue is resolved for everyone.
