Fitbit is a company (owned by Google since 2021) focused on wearable devices with accurate tracking of physical activity and health.

A few weeks ago, the company launched the Fitbit Sense 2 and Versa 4, whose lack of support for third party apps is disappointing to many users.

However, there are still many customers with older generations of Fitbit wearables as they remain functional. This is the case for users of the Fitbit Versa 2, one of the company’s most popular devices.

That said, it seems that a recent update bricked many Fitbit Versa 2 units. Features like heart rate and sleep tracking are not working either for some, among other issues.

Fitbit Versa 2 bricked after v35.72.1.23 update

According to multiple reports, the latest Fitbit Versa 2 update is bricking it. The update in question is v35.72.1.23, so for now you should avoid installing it.

fitbit update today killed my mom’s Versa 2?

as the title says. She’s bewildered. She asked support and they gave her a 35% off code for a new one…….she uses it daily, 13k steps, really passionate about it.

Versa 2 stopped working after the update

Lots of people are saying it won’t update. Don’t try! It is bricking the Versa 2 and they aren’t coming out with a fix and instead are telling people to get a new one.

Just happened to me a few days ago. A responsible thing to do would be for them to fix it or replace it.

Fitbit Versa 2 screen unresponsive for some users

Another problem that the update is causing directly affects the touch screen. It seems that the Fitbit Versa 2 is now much less responsive, even getting completely stuck in some cases.

While this may be less severe than a bricked device, it totally prevents owners from using the wearable accordingly.

Versa 2 screen stopped working properly

Following the recent firmware update, my Fitbit has so far developed 2 problems:

I cant stop my morning alarm by touching the tick on the screen, a red cross is displayed and i have to snooze it with the side button.

Versa 2 screen won’t swipe

My FitBit is a little over a year old and has quit scrolling. I’ve rebooted it many times and updated the most recent update and none of this fixes the problem.

Heart rate and sleep tracking features not working either

Other Fitbit Versa 2 users are also facing issues that affect two key features of the smart watch. Currently, sleep tracking and heartrate monitoring are not working for them.

Versa 2 heart rate not turning on

Hello there, I have my heart rate monitor on but still doesn’t track my heart rate. Is it broken and do i need to get someone to fix it? Or can i do it personally. Thanks

Versa 2 not tracking sleep, readiness etc

My Versa 2 is not tracking sleep for the last three days. I’m missing sleep data and premium data like health metrics, readiness and stress management.

This may be the ‘least’ serious problem among the three. After all, users could receive a future fix via an update.

But Versa 2 users with totally unresponsive screen will not be able to accept the update. Meanwhile, the bricked Versa 2 devices aren’t even turning on.

There is still no official word on any of these issues from the Fitbit team. We will update this story as events unfold.
