Xiaomi is preparing the way for their new smartphone lineup – Mi CC – since last few weeks. While teasing the upcoming series, Lei Jun (Chairman, Founder and CEO of Xiaomi Corporation) also indicated the demise of Mi Max and Mi Note lineup.

The amount is hype around the youngest member of Mi family is skyrocketing, while Lei Jun and other officials are continuously dropping pointers towards various features of the upcoming Mi CC lineup.

Now that Redmi is a separate entity, the Chinese OEM is planning to cater the youths by launching camera centric Mi CC series. FYI, the Redmi S2 (sold as Y2 in India) was marketed with the same principle – a selfie centric phone for the young crowd.

Besides standing for camera+camera, a dual-camera setup on Mi CC, CC also refers to a variety of meanings including chic, cool, colorful and creative, aiming at the global young generation with its trendy design and camera features.

Mi CC is designed to be a flagship for photography and selfies with both front and back cameras, and industry-leading algorithm empowered by the newly founded Xiaomi x Meitu AI Beauty Lab.

Judging from the Weibo posts of Lei Jun, there should be at least three different introductory models in the Mi CC lineup. Apart from Mi CC9 and Mi CC9e, a third model called CC9 Meitu Custom Edition are going to be available on July 2.

The primary rear camera of all three phones are based on the Sony IMX586 48 MP sensor, while the selfie camera should be 32 MP. The special Meitu edition will feature a custom retail box and logo.

The Meitu Edition is allegedly powered by an entirely different image processing stack, which is far more superior than Xiaomi’s previous software. Now Lei Jun has shared the first sample picture taken using the selfie camera of CC9 Meitu Custom edition in low light condition.

If you zoom in, you can clearly notice the watermark at the bottom right corner. It says “MI CC9 MEITU ; BEAUTY FOR SELFIE”, which indicates the capability of the AI enabled beauty mode of the phone’s camera, even under extreme dark conditions.

Looks impressive, isn’t it? Hopefully Xiaomi-Meitu partnership will start a new era in low light photography under budget segment.
