Mozilla Firefox has been around for quite some time and a lot of people use the web browser on platforms like macOS.

However, a small yet handy function has been under development for the last 22 years for the macOS Firefox variant.

As per a 22-year old request thread on Bugzilla, developers of the Firefox have been trying to bring support for native context menus on the macOS version.

The thread outlines that while Mozilla Firefox was able to make use of the native macOS menu bar, the same was not possible for context menus.

Now, this primordial hurdle has been overcome with the Mozilla Firefox version 89.0 for macOS which came out pretty recently.

The said web browser version finally supports native context menus on macOS thus improving internal consistency.

Also, the latest web browser version brings the said support along with Dark Mode to further improve ease of access.

While this might not appear as a major improvement to regular users, the fact that the functionality was being worked on for over two decades suggests otherwise.

Native context menus: Context menus on macOS are now native and support Dark Mode.

The Bugzilla thread description also suggests that implementation of the native context menus support might include code bits from the existing macOS menus.

However, this info is quite old so it is unclear whether the same approach was followed or not.

It is still good to see that Mozilla has finally enhanced the overall consistency of Firefox for macOS.
