Firefox not letting you download PDF files on Android? Here's how to do it

Firefox recently introduced version 111 update for Android which introduced Enhanced Tracking Protection. After this patch, one can also share links to recently viewed web material from the Recents screen.

The app lets users view PDF documents as they browse. However, some are facing issues after the latest update.

Some Firefox Android app users (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) are facing an issue where they are unable to download PDF files to their smartphone.

Apparently, they are unable to locate the download option. As a result, one has to copy the PDF file link and paste it into another browser to download it.

To make matters worse, users are also unable to configure the browser to directly download such files to their mobile devices. Those affected have taken to web forums to express their concerns.

One user claims that after the update, they no longer have access to the PDF viewer toolbar and hence cannot find the option to download the file.

Starting about a week ago, every time I try to download a PDF file, it opens in a new tab instead of actually downloading. I have to copy the link and paste it into the Google Chrome app to make it download properly. How do I fix this?

When I press a button on any site to download a pdf, rather that downloading, it open up a site where I can read the pdf but can’t download.

Users are now requesting the developers to introduce an option to choose the default behavior for PDF files.

Fortunately, even after the latest update you can download PDF files on Firefox. You can do so by clicking on the Share icon in the browser menu and selecting the option to save the page as .pdf.
