Gamers claim that some players in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team mode can suffer from permanent injuries that lower their stats and abilities, without the user being aware of it.

These injuries are different from the normal ones that can be healed with injury cards.

The hidden injuries are not visible in the player’s bio or status, but they can be detected by looking at the player’s history in the FIFA Companion or Web app.

NickRTFM tested this theory and found that multiple players in his squad had this injury glitch.

My starting RB over 400+ games has an upper body injury. FML. EA has some ‘splainin to do. This is actual fraud in that people are spending real money for cards etc. If this is shown to be EA’s enticement to get people to spend money then they have significant legal issues.

Injuries can affect attributes of the player, such as pace, shooting, passing, dribbling, defending, or physicality, and sort of nerf them.

Due to this, some gamers feel that these hidden injuries are the reason why a good player suddenly started feeling slow, misplaced passes, and no longer felt the same in-game(1,2,3,4,5).

While others say that they have seen no effect of this glitch while playing the game(1,2,3).

People are even claiming that EA did this to keep gamers buying new cards and completing new SBCs. Some believe they should be sued if this is done on purpose (1,2,3).

NepentheZ, a prominent FIFA YouTuber for years, feels that this is something related to a visual glitch with the Companion or the web app.

Several FIFA players seem to agree with him and feel that it’s nothing more than a visual glitch and could be fixed in a future update (1,2,3,4,5).

We have come across a potential workaround that fixes this glitch. All you need to do is select the affected player cards and keep them in the substitutes or reserve section in your active squad:

After a few games, go back and check the player information within the Web or Companion app, and the injury should be gone.
