Escape from Tarkov arrived in 2017 as an FPS action game with an approach to the MMO genre.

One of the biggest attractions of the game is the very careful development of its narrative and its tension-filled atmosphere. The game seeks to offer the feeling of a horror game by entering the unknown.

That said, recently Escape from Tarkov received an update with some small improvements.

However, it seems that the update also brought an issue that severely impacts the game.

Currently, many Escape from Tarkov players are unable to enter the game after changing their ‘Connection type’ settings. Apparently, the update ‘broke’ this option, but there is a workaround (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).

Escape from Tarkov players unable to access game after changing ‘Connection type’ settings

The latest Escape from Tarkov patch update (0.12.12.15.4) arrived not long ago. The update was expected to bring some general improvements and tweaks.

But, Escape from Tarkov players didn’t expect that changing their ‘Connection type’ settings would prevent them from accessing the game after the update.

According to reports, those who changed their ‘Connection type’ settings currently just get an error when trying to login.

It was supposed to help with connection issues, but if you changed it to HTTP it just makes you unable to login by giving you this error every time you launch the game.

Why don’t check before post the update, now many of your players can not start the game. Fix it asap please.

Escape from Tarkov team recommends not changing settings

The Escape from Tarkov team is aware of the issue and is working to resolve it. Meanwhile, they warn players not to change their ‘Connection type’ settings, or they won’t be able to enter the game.

The Connection type setting does not work correctly at the moment. Please don’t change it #EscapefromTarkov.

However, since Escape from Tarkov players were not aware of the issue, many modified their ‘Connection type’ before the official acknowledgment.

If you are one of the unlucky players who tweaked the option, there is a potential workaround that reportedly helps resolve the issue.

In case anyone was wondering, going into your settings config via AppData\Roaming\Battlestate Games\Escape from Tarkov\Settings and changing connection type to default appears to have fixed it!
